Important information from The Avenue surgery

Dear patients,

As you are aware the practice has gone through some significant changes lately with the retirement of Dr Hacking. In order to offer you the best clinical care possible when you request an appointment, our reception team will be offering you contact with a clinician based on your needs. This may be with a GP, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, a Prescribing Pharmacist or another external service provider. If we are unable to offer you an appointment, the team will offer signposting guidance to alternative places of treatment and self-help such as; NHS 111, your local pharmacies or an urgent treatment centre.

For more self-help advice or to check if your symptoms need clinical input, please click here: Get help for your symptoms – NHS 111

Repeat prescriptions

We are reviewing our prescribing processes to ensure that medicines continue to remain safe for you. This means that any medicine on a repeat prescription will be regularly reviewed by a clinician. When your medicines are due for renewal, you will be contacted to book an appointment at a mutually convenient time. Please be prompt booking in this review in to avoid any delays in obtaining your repeat medicines.

Please note: We are no longer accepting medicine requests that are submitted with a repeat prescription. If medicines are requested that are not on your repeat prescription they will not be issued and will not be acknowledged. If you require items that have previously been issued and are not on your repeat, you will need to request an appointment with a clinician. This is to ensure it is safe to be re-prescribed for you.

Appointments

As our e-Consult service is now well established, we will no longer be offering the opportunity to directly self-book into appointments via the online booking system. You can request an appointment by calling the surgery directly, or via our e-consult service here: Consult Online from Home – The Avenue Surgery (webgp.com)

For further information or if you would like to join our Patient Participation Group, please contact us here: Patient Feedback – The Avenue Surgery (theavenuesurgerybrighton.co.uk)

Finally, we are working very hard to ensure that our practice provides a service that is accessible and responsive to your needs. We are asking you to remain kind and courteous to all members of staff, abusive or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated and could result in you being removed from our patient list.

With thanks,

The Avenue Surgery
